Metalwork Monday November 10th

Today on this Monday we are taking apart the birdcage and grinding down the cleaned  metal we cut off the complet bottom half just to learn how to cut Jack & my other teammates/classmates Are working hard on the solar car out of 100% done there about 65% & that's good because it's such a difficult car to work on right now there constructing a way to hold 6 batteries ontop of each other so it Takes up less space they also have to develope a way to house them so they don't over heat  on each other

Today is Friday once again  & This whole week we took out every single tool out the toolbox and replace them in the correct order as i said on Monday we are almost done organizing every tool  into its correct box or bin or maybe en a cabinet we now have tons of space for the new tools & the new screws, bolts, washers and even  all the hardware tools were wiped down & placed back in a neatly order we also finished up  the welding processes that was honestly awesome MR. insel showed us a lot  about welding & the proper way to weld we got new everything that involved welding from mask to gloves. so many new things to end this month with it feels like Christmas in October lets see what next week has in store for us  i know it will be so much easier since we know where everything is  the cars will be done faster

10/17/14

Friday 17th

this week our team remounted the rear wheel so It can fit our new motor... peter put a new rear suspension and it works great  he mounted it correctly ..we also got a new chain chain fixed the motor controller   we all practiced welding  screws together  it was a nice experience i honestly didn't know what i was doing & Matt taught my teammates & i how to do it the safe way & also look out for anyone walking past  safety is first when welding its a very dangerous skill that comes with a lot of responsibility

Friday

Today Peter is grinding down the homemade foot pedal he cut out a scrap peace of metal & now we are going to weld  it to the car check out his safety precaution he needs to do this so grind down one side then bolt it to the cart we got really far with what our team has done next week will be a lot  more trilling

Monday the 6th

This weeks goals are going to be awesome ...we are still working on both cars we all as a team  got  a lot done within the two week span but today we are all chipping in on making A parts list for both solar cars our goal is to spend under 200 bucks & get stuff we need like a new Circuit breaker & what that  does is if theirs too much power going to the cart the fuse will brake & it stops anything from happening like a on & off switch we also need mini charge controller & that controls the voltage & amperage coming in from the solar panel you can't go anywhere with out a a foot pedal so my teammate peter is building A home made one ....wait & see what he comes up with

Friday, October 3, 2014

this is the other car my teammates & i are working on

fabricating our own foot peddle using stuff that's just laying around   we drilled holes to it can fit in the spot we measured out this hole week we've been hands on on this kart if one person is working on the electronics the other is working on steering  or braking because we have to stop & turn OR  that will be bad if we cant

Friday 10/3/14

This week we were split into two teams and we had to fabricate holes for the motor controller and a better battery housing both teams worked together to help each other out the reason why we had to make the holes is because there's no space for what we are trying to do today we adjusted the drum brake & it actually stops now

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

today was really awesome

Drilling holes for a mounting plate for The main switch & what that does is disconnect the batteries from the car if anything was to go wrong it's like a big on &; off power switch  we fabricated where we would mount the switch & how it connects to the batteries  we are only using three batteries & a solar panel the care is looking great by next week we should be done with almost everything mechanical

Monday, September 29, 2014

9/29/14 Monday

we where SPLIT into two teams & we are both working on separate cars decision on battery replacement we need to find a way to modify where the right place on housing the battery's we where thinking moving the seat forward & the battery's behind the seat ... Weight distribution will be center it will also roll a lot better not putting in the fact that there is  no suspension so looks like next weeks task is to remount suspension

Friday

WE WON .........TODAY we where raced to see who could build the metal shelves not the fastest but the correct way see each shelf was 12.5 inches away from each other & no other  team knew that so it gave us a advantage  & we figured that out after a couple times  it was hard at first but we worked together to win we where put agents  other teams

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

flipping tires on this nice Friday

today's meeting was on tires..... How many idiots does it take to change 2 tubeless tires ... Wait why are tubes even in tubeless tires  weeks latter....Matt still has not brought back the tires  and we are still waiting on them jack finished the car he was working on its complete now & now we are waiting on the tires with the rim

Monday meet up

today & for the rest of the week Peters drilling holes so we can bolt the motor controller on the frame the motor controller controls how much power goes into the motor & it controls the amount of power leaving & entering its like a big fuse ...Limiting the amount of energy it needs at a certain time for the rest of the week we are working on the other go kart its the same solar car but a home made go kart was are also building it from scratch we are also going to practice welding & sanding down with a electrical sander this week should be fun

Soldering motors today

my teammate is working hands on today teaching everyone how to solder the right & safe way we used vix & what that does is help the solder bond to the metal terminals
